It was not a day to hang about at Roland Garros: the weather forecast made for grim reading, the dark clouds overhead were clearly bringing trouble and the smell of damp spectator wafted down every corridor (and spectators, even chic, Parisian ones, do not smell great when soaked). In such circumstances, Queen Shazza was in no mood to waste time. She took one look at Ksenia Pervak (whose warm-up gear appeared to be a set of army fatigues – an odd look for a grand slam) and went for the kill, sploshing the unfortunate Russian 6-1, 6-2 in just 61 minutes.
